Description
Images of the old town of Jakarta with numerous buildings from the Dutch colonial era. The old town of Jakarta, then called Batavia, was founded in the 17th century.
Many of the buildings in the area, located in the northern part of the Indonesian capital, formerly served as government and administrative offices of the Dutch East Indies, which was the name of the country under Dutch rule. Other structures include houses, warehouses, shipyards and forts.
The Dutch colonized Indonesia from the 1800s until 1945. STOCKSHOTS
