Description
Workers in Hualien city perform reinforcement work on the heavily leaning Uranus building – which was tilting at a 45-degree angle after half of its first floor pancaked – to prepare the ageing structure for demolition, days after Wednesday's magnitude-7.4 quake.
"We hope to complete the demolition within two weeks so Hualien people can return to their regular lives. We hope that everyone will not be in such a panicky situation."
Before the operation began, workers and officials held a small ceremony to pray for a smooth and safe demolition. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
