Description
Argentine scientists from the national scientific research institute CONICET, based in La Plata, are investigating mosquitoes due to a notable rise in dengue cases in the country. This surge has raised concerns among health officials. The researchers are investigating the biology, genetic characteristics and behavior of the Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, transmitters of dengue, zika and chikungunya, and creating biological control strategies.
Climate factors and winter transmission have driven the surge, with over 150,000 cases and 100 fatalities reported. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
