Israel's looming war with Lebanon's Hezbollah is reviving painful memories for former South Lebanon Army (SLA) members who sought refuge in Israel with their families more than 20 years ago. The Zadalnikim, as they are known in Hebrew, are former members of the mostly Christian militia that fought with Israel in the 1980s and 1990s in southern Lebanon. They sought shelter on the Israeli side of the border in the aftermath of the sudden Israeli withdrawal from Lebanon in May 2000 fearing reprisals from the Iran-backed Hezbollah, who they had battled for years.
