Hundreds of black metal silhouettes stand in front of the British Normandy Memorial, overlooking Gold Beach, where 25,000 British landed on 6 June 1944. The project, entitled "Standing with Giants", pays tribute to the soldiers who lost their lives during the D-Day landings, as the 80th anniversary of the vast operation that helped liberate Europe from the Nazis approaches.
