Description
About a hundred homeless rights advocates protest outside the US Supreme Court as the court hears arguments on whether cities can ban homeless people from sleeping outside. The case centers around laws in the city of Grants Pass, in the western state of Oregon, which banned camping or using any kind of bedding on public property as tents, blankets and cardboard filled its public parks. "The problem is that a policy as extreme as the one that Grants Pass in Oregon has passed, is that it criminalizes the fact of being poor," an activist says. "We're very worried about the precedent that this could set," he adds. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
