In the heart of sun-soaked Morocco, scientists are cultivating a future where resilient crops defy a relentless drought gripping the nation for the sixth consecutive year. Since 2013, the International Center for Agricultural Research in Dry Areas (ICARDA) has run a 120-hectare experimental farm near Marchouch, a small town some 70 kilometres (43 miles) south of Rabat where a variety of climate-adapted crops are grown.
