Smoke rises above the area of Chasiv Yar, in Ukraine's eastern Donesk region, and explosions are heard as Russia continues its push towards the key town. Ukrainian officials have said Russian forces aim to seize the hilltop town before May 9, when Russia marks victory over Nazi Germany in World War II, a symbolic win for President Vladimir Putin.
