Description
The engine of Ricardo Frediani's boat "Gulu" roars through the waters of the Guaiba River, which flooded Porto Alegre in southern Brazil. It races towards the devastated Eldorado do Sul, transporting Katiane Mello to her home where she hopes her belongings have remained intact. As new storms threaten the region with additional flooding, residents fear losing everything. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
