Description
Gambians in the capital Banjul say they welcome the decision by a Swiss Court to sentence ex-Gambian interior minister Ousman Sonko to 20 years in prison for crimes against humanity committed under the regime of former dictator Yahya Jammeh. "I felt like the rod of the law was what exactly felled on him, and it was justice," says Bernard Gomez, law student, University of The Gambia. "The conviction of Ousman Sonko is actually a limelight sort of to Gambians, showing everybody that and the world at large that impunity have no borders," says Samba Jawo from the International Centre for Transitional Justice.
