Description
The tea-growing province of Rize in Turkey's northeast has been repeatedly hit by major landslides over the last 50 years. And it is going to get worse, experts warn, with climate change making the Black Sea warmer and rainstorms even more violent, putting further pressure on the soil. "It rains a lot in the Black Sea region. You can see that", says local tea farmer Zikrullah Komurcu. The problem is made worse by the construction of roads that cut into the mountainsides, reducing stability. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
