'We are not a genocidal nation', read giant billboards placed on skyscrapers in the Serbian capital just hours ahead of a UN vote on a resolution to create an international day of commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide. For weeks Serbian and Bosnian Serb leaders have been fiercely opposing the resolution to mark the 1995 killings of around 8,000 of Bosnian Muslim men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces, in Europe's worst single atrocity since World War II, that was deemed genocide by two international courts.
