Description
Early voting gets under way in South Africa, kick-starting what could be a historic election week, with the ruling African National Congress' majority on the line for the first time. More than 600,000 of the elderly and infirm who are unable to head to the polls were allowed to vote first. Pamela Nkosi, the presiding officer of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) of the Yeoville recreation centre in Johannesburg, visits Thelma Thembeka Dingaan to bring her a poll card. Thelma says it is "very important to have a home visit" as she is unable to head to the polling station: "I am aging, and I have got feet problem, I am disabled, so you understand it's for me it would be a little bit hard to go to that side," she says.
