In the warmth of the night, around a dozen people, shopping bags in hand, are already waiting for the metal curtains at Noumea's municipal market to be lifted. But the atmosphere is no longer quite the same. The market had been closed since May 13 when historic riots set the French archipelago of New Caledonia ablaze.
