Description
Athens swelters in the country's earliest-ever recorded heatwave with the Acropolis, Greece's most visited tourist attraction, closed to the public during the hottest hours for the second day running. A heatwave for Greece is temperatures exceeding 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit) for at least three days. Temperatures of up to 44 degrees Celsius were expected on Thursday, with up to 43 degrees forecast in the capital, prompting health warnings and school closures. "Forty degrees [celsius] is getting you towards the edge, but yeah, no, it's all good," says one American tourist. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
