Description
Under the Tuileries Gardens, near the Louvre, a mysterious laboratory is making works of art talk: across three floors and nearly 6,000 square metres, the Centre for Research and Restoration of Museums of France (C2RMF) includes its own particle accelerator called AGLAE, and is bustling with radiologists, chemists, geologists, metallurgists, archaeologists and engineers. After the Mona Lisa, the stained glass windows of the Sainte-Chapelle and Notre-Dame, Napoleon's sword and the Charioteer of Delphi, it is the precious remains of a monumental Cambodian sculpture from the 11th century, considered a national treasure, that has just been entrusted to it for a series of analyses.
