Italian far-right Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, host of the G7 summit, denies that there had been a row over the exclusion of the word abortion from leaders' statement. Meloni further said that she hoped the European Union would understand the "message" sent by voters in last weekend's elections after far-right parties such as hers made gains. As a summit on peace in Ukraine opened in Switzerland, she added, "It doesn't seem particularly effective to me as a negotiation proposal to tell Ukraine that it must withdraw from Ukraine".
