Description
Forensic teams and public prosecutors work at a site in western Mexico where relatives searching for their missing loved ones say they found at least ten bodies in a clandestine grave.
"We received an anonymous call directing us to the site," says one man who has been searching for his son since 2018. The Jalisco state prosecutor's office is yet to confirm the number of bodies found at the site in Tlajomulco de Zuniga, part of the metropolitan area of the state capital Guadalajara. Tens of thousands of people are missing in Mexico, most since the country launched a major offensive against the cartels in 2006. Jalisco, which is the scene of turf wars between rival drug gangs, is one of the regions with the most people to have disappeared. The country's forensic system is overwhelmed, and tens of thousands of unidentified bodies lie unclaimed in morgues or mass graves. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
