Description
Members of New Caledonia's pro-independence movement CCAT call for the release of 'political prisoners' and denounce 'colonial practices' during a press conference at the Maison commune of the La Conception tribe in Mont-Dore. Seven of the pro-independence activists arrested during the raid, including CCAT spokesperson Christian Tein, were transferred to mainland France for detention. They are suspected of having ordered the violence that has rocked the French Pacific archipelago since mid-May, following a vote in Paris on a constitutional bill to reform the electoral system on the island.
