"We're at a time when Total has lost all financial and insurance support(...), Chinese support is really the last potential support for this project," says Romane, a member of the StopTotal collective, during a joint action with Extinction Rebellion in front of the Chinese embassy in Paris to denounce the East African Crude Oil Pipeline Project (EACOP). The activists, dressed in TotalEnergies colours, built a fake pipeline to put pressure on Chinese investors and insurers: "This project is absurd, more than 100,000 people will be affected," added the activist.
