China's foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian says Japan's latest annual white paper "hypes up the so-called Chinese threat, and exaggerates regional tensions".
Tokyo's defence ministry warned in the white paper that Beijing's military ambitions were "the greatest strategic challenge" to Japan and the world. SOUNDBITE
