SHORT PROFILE of radical Islamist preacher Anjem Choudary as he has been found guilty at a UK court of directing a banned terrorist organisation and encouraging support for it online. A jury at Woolwich Crown Court in southeast London convicted Choudary on July 23 of being the "caretaker" leader of Al-Muhajiroun (ALM), which was proscribed in the UK in 2010. Its members have been implicated in a number of Islamist extremist attacks, including the murder of British soldier Lee Rigby in 2013 and attacks on London Bridge in 2017 and 2019.
