Description
Hundreds of volunteers are on the streets of Middlesbrough in northeast England to help the clean-up effort after far-right riots broke out over the murder of three children last week. Police have blamed the violence on supporters and associated organisations of the English Defence League, an anti-Islam organisation founded 15 years ago, whose supporters have been linked to football hooliganism. Co-organiser of the clean-up operation, Sahida Ditta, says "I felt it was really important to bring the community together to reinforce the message of unity and solidarity, and to show those people who came yesterday to try and destroy our town, they can't divide us, we're stronger and better than that."
