Since October 7th, Haifa municipality's emergency command centre has moved underground in a bomb shelter and stands ready as regional tensions soar. The head of emergency preparedness Leonid Reznik says the call centre of the Israeli municipality is working 24/7, adding that "more people are calling. More of them are asking about information. Most information is about finding bomb shelters." Memories are vivid in Haifa, about 30 kilometres (less than 20 miles) from the Lebanese border, of the 2006 war with Hezbollah when the militant group's rockets repeatedly slammed into the city.
