The "Super Blue Moon" -- a union of a supermoon and a blue moon -- appears in the skies of Boston, Massachusetts on August 19, 2024.
The term "blue moon" refers to the third full moon of a four-part astronomical season, while a "supermoon" is a full moon that occurs when it is closer to the Earth in its orbit, giving it a slightly larger, brighter appearance. IMAGES
