In an interview with AFP, local boat owner Angelo Formica relives the moments that a superyacht sank off the coast of Sicily on Monday due to a waterspout. Woken up the by noise, he went to the port to see what was happening. He says that while these incidents are rare in this particular area, they are known to happen in Sicily and "there is no time to react" because they are caused by "currents that form immediately".
