Description
"Unjustly, they are trying to attack us," says Manuel Zelaya, former President of Honduras (2006-2009) and husband of current President Xiomara Castro, in front of partisans. Honduras said it was ending an extradition treaty with the United States that has been used to imprison drug traffickers. The row comes after US Ambassador to Honduras Laura Dogu voiced concern about a meeting between Honduran authorities and Venezuelan Defense Minister General Vladimir Padrino Lopez, who is under US sanctions. Honduran congressman Carlos Zelaya, brother-in-law of President Xiomara Castro then resigned amid a scandal over alleged links to drug trafficking, as well as his son, Defence Minister José Manuel Zelaya.
