More than a thousand Salvadorans took to the streets to protest the ongoing state of emergency, which has led to over 80,000 arrests, many of whom claim to be victims of unjustified detentions. The protesters walked through the center of the capital in opposition to the official parade for the 203rd anniversary of Central America's Independence. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
