The Olympic rings that have hung from the Eiffel Tower since June have been removed, pending their replacement by a more permanent structure that will remain there until 2028, as requested by the Paris city council. "It'll be a great souvenir," says Gabriel, a French tourist who volunteered during the Paris Olympics, while another says it's "a shame that the Eiffel Tower has been reduced to a billboard for an event that's now over".
