Description
As overfishing and global warming deplete sea stocks, Senegal is making a push to promote fish farming, which still only accounts for a small percentage of production and consumption. ”You've got a lot of players who have invested in aquaculture but who haven't been able to sell their products because the Senegalese market isn't familiar with aquaculture products,” says Khadidiatou Sar Seck, a fish farm owner. The push is also in part to stop disillusioned fishermen from clandestine emigration. “Why do young people leave? It's because they've run out of fish stocks,” says Samba Ka, director of the national aquaculture agency. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES ARRANGED IN SEQUENCES N°36HV7JE
