Description
British actor Idris Elba says that the future of African cinema "relies on" an Africa-first focus whilst attending the continent's premier film industry event, the Africa Cinema Summit in Ghana's capital Accra. "It's fantastic that we're seeing an upsurge of African cinema on Netflix, on Prime and all of that. But the future of our filmmaking relies on us, not those platforms," says the Golden Globe winning actor who was born in London to a Sierra Leonean father and a Ghanaian mother. "We have to have the distribution, we have to have the connectivity, we have to have the cinemas, what I call the bums on seats." IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
