Description
Mexican security officials, including Defense Secretary Ricardo Trevilla Trejo and Public Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch, are visiting Culiacan, a Mexican cartel stronghold in Sinaloa that has been rocked by gang infighting that has left some 150 people dead in the past month.
The visit comes on the same day that new President Claudia Sheinbaum unveiled a national security plan aimed at reducing rampant criminal violence. She has pledged to continue her predecessor Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador's "hugs, not bullets" strategy of using social policies to address the root causes of crime. IMAGES
