Description
Cracked, collapsed walls, damaged roofs and sunken buildings are commonplace in Bargny, a coastal town just outside the Senegalese capital Dakar. "I'm scared and I have no doubt that if solutions aren't found, Bargny will disappear," says resident Ndeye Yacine Dieng, as she tries protecting her beachfront home from the encroaching waves. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has long warned of rising sea levels linked to global warming, with populations living along Africa's coastline particularly at risk.
