Description
Main roads leading to the political stronghold of Cochabamba, central Bolivia, are blocked by supporters of Evo Morales on the second day of protests aimed at preventing his possible arrest for alleged child sex abuse. Using stones, branches, and tires, protesters have obstructed roads connecting cities like La Paz, Sucre, and Santa Cruz, according to the state-run Bolivian Highway Authority (ABC). "This has to stop. We shouldn't have to suffer the consequences of one person’s whim or support a pedophile," says trader Magdalena Flores as she crosses a bridge in Cochabamba.
Elected Bolivia's first Indigenous president in 2006, Morales claims the allegations against him were fabricated by the Arce government to discredit him. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
