Description
French National Assembly President Yael Braun-Pivet calls for dialogue after her visit to Lyon 3 University met with a pro-Palestinian protest.
"I offered to talk to these young people who didn't want me to come... Whatever the debates of ideas we may have, we must not allow this to have the effect of limiting... the exchanges that we must have," says Braun-Pivet who in the end was able to have a calm exchange with students.
Graffitis reading "Free Palestine" and "Genociders stay away from our universities" had been sprayed on the walls of Lyon University as pro-Palestinian activists and students awaited for her arrival. Several left-wing organisations had denounced her visit, describing her as "a leading figure in unconditional support for the criminal actions of the Israeli state".
