"We were sitting at home having breakfast. I went outside and suddenly I heard the sound of shelling. I thought the neighbors' house was targeted but I came back and found that our entire house was destroyed," recounts Mohammed Abu Rayala whose family members were killed when Iraeli warplanes struck the building where they had taken refuge in the center of Gaza City. The health ministry in Hamas-run Gaza said on Monday that at least 43,922 people have been killed in more than 13 months of war between Israel and Palestinian militants, including 76 deaths in the previous 24 hours.
