Description
More than 200 people gathered for a memorial march through the streets of Dunkirk, France after which 31 white roses were thrown into the sea, in tribute to the 27 dead and four missing in a shipwreck on November 24, 2021. This was the deadliest migrant shipwreck in the English Channel. But since then, almost 100 more have died trying to reach England from France, including at least 71 this year. "We absolutely can't get used to what's happening," says Thomas, 35, a Calais resident at the ceremony. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
