AFPTV looks back at the biggest stories of 2024. Protests against the high cost of living in Martinique: Violent protests erupted in September over spiralling costs on the island, whose residents pay much more for food and other items than in mainland France. Talks with activists and retailers resulted in a deal to cut prices of around 6,000 food items by an average of 20 percent, but the Assembly for the Protection of Afro-Caribbean Peoples and Resources (RPPRAC), which launched the protests, has refused to sign.
