A UK-based rare book dealer displays what it calls the largest collection of Mao's "Little Red Book" at Hong Kong's Maritime Museum as it offers the entire collection for $1.2 million. "Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong" is an icon of the Cultural Revolution, a movement to demolish Mao's political rivals that also turned into a disaster, with youthful Red Guards wreaking havoc across the country. The collection comprises more than 200 items, including early editions and translations of the book of Mao's thoughts and sayings, assembled by American bookseller Justin G. Schiller over three decades. "What's really important to understand about this collection and the history of the 'Little Red Book' is that it didn't really start off as just being red," says Matt Wills, Asia specialist at Peter Harrington, adding it was also issued in brown and blue vinyl.
