Description
Relatives of inmates detained during Venezuela's post-election protests gather outside Tocuyito maximum-security prison, demanding the release of their loved ones. The family of Osgual Alexander Gonzalez Perez, 43, the third inmate to die in detention, waits for his body. Now, they are asking for Osgual's son to be released alive. "We will take the father in a way we never wanted. What we want is for them to give us my nephew," says Osgual's sister.
The protests erupted after President Nicolas Maduro was proclaimed the winner of the July 28 election, despite results published by the opposition appearing to show their candidate won by a landslide.
Twenty-eight people were killed and nearly 200 were wounded in the unrest. More than 2,400 were arrested. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
