"You have to realise that waste water contains all the crap you can put into it, and the impact on the marine environment is catastrophic for us", says Thierry Lafon, president of the association for the defence of the waters of the Arcachon Basin. More than a hundred people gather in Arcachon, on France's western coast, at the call of oyster farmers and environmentalists to denounce a draft regulation considered to be a ‘licence to pollute’, since it authorises the discharge of wastewater into nature.
