Description
The leader of the German conservative CDU party and chancellory candidate Friedrich Merz promises not to enter a coalition with the far-right AfD party if he is successful in February elections. "I won't do it," he says at a campaign event in Dresden, eastern Germany, blaming current Chancellor Olaf Scholz's government of being responsible for the AfD's rise. Outside the venue, several hundred protesters gathered in opposition to a joint vote by the AfD and conservatives to pass a motion on immigration in the German parliament. IMAGES AND SOUNDBITES
