Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro mocks Panama's foreign minister as "incapable of defending the Panama Canal" during a visit by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio amid US President Donald Trump's threats to regain control of the waterway.
"He lost his composure in front of Marco Rubio when he [Rubio] visited him and then was incapable of defending the Panama Canal," Maduro says of Panama's Javier Martinez-Acha, without naming him, during a rally to commemorate the 33rd anniversary of late President Hugo Chavez's 1992 failed military coup against the government.
