Description
"It’s an experience I wouldn't wish on nobody. I hope, I pray, nobody has to go through that, all that, all waiting, all that time," says Robert Roberson in a rare interview with AFP from his prison in Texas. Roberson, who has autism spectrum disorder, was convicted of the February 2002 death of his two-year-old daughter, Nikki. If executed, he would be the first person in the United States to be put to death based on a diagnosis of the controversial 'shaken baby syndrome,' according to his lawyers. The 58-year-old was originally scheduled for execution by lethal injection in October, but while it was temporarily put on hold, the Supreme Court has since ruled that the execution can proceed.
