Description
Caught up in trafficking after getting into debt at home, Vietnamese migrant Xuan, a father of two, says he crossed the English Channel hidden in a truck and ended up on a UK cannabis farm. He says he was locked up day and night, alone and struggling to breathe due to the fumes, before escaping. After a spell in hospital, Xuan was sent to The Salvation Army, an organisation tasked by the UK government with helping victims of modern slavery. "It's an issue that's global, not just in the UK, and it's not just cannabis farms," explains Kathy Betteridge, Director for Anti-Trafficking and Modern Slavery at The Salvation Army.
