Description
A look back at another week of tension and population displacement in the east of the DRC, as fighting has spread widely in the South Kivu region and armed M23 groups approach the regional capital, Bukavu. In Goma, classes have not yet fully resumed and a shortage of water across the city is increasing the risk of a cholera epidemic in the region. In Bukavu, the atmosphere is tense as the city's hospitals prepare to receive the flood of wounded, which is likely to increase as the fighting draws closer to the city, while refugees from the conflict continue their exodus.
