Description
In a small town in the Panamanian Caribbean, Venezuelan Luis Montilla waits to be able to pay for a boat on his way back after failing to enter the United States. He prefers to sleep on the beach to being locked up in migrant shelters: "We are not animals," he says.
Montilla, 28, and other Venezuelan migrants are stranded in the coastal town of Miramar, in the province of Colón, while family members back home raise the $260 that the boatman charges each of them to take them to the Colombian border, and then on to their country or another destination.
