Description
The Columbus Division of Police is asking for help identifying three people who may be involved in the death of a man who was found dead by a dumpster in the Italian Village Monday morning.
Police said officers were called to the 900 block of North 4th Street around 4:20 a.m. for a report of a dead man lying in the rear parking lot of The Go Go bar.
Officers found the man, who was suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 4:27 a.m.
In surveillance video released by police, a man is seen walking toward a dumpster with another man wearing a red shirt and long black pants at 2:24 a.m. After a few seconds, they begin fighting.
Moments later, a male wearing a black t-shirt and a female wearing a black shirt are seen running toward the dumpster. The male wearing a black t-shirt can be seen reaching into the front pocket of his shorts as he is running toward the fight.
The video does not show what happens next, but three people can be seen running away from the dumpster. The male wearing the black t-shirt ran south toward Hamlet Street. The male in the red t-shirt and the female ran south. The man who walked to the dumpster with the male in the red t-shirt is not seen again.
The age and name of the victim has not been released.
Anyone who has information on the three individuals who ran away is asked to contact Detective Huffman at 614-645-4146 or call Central Ohio Crime Stoppers at 614-461-8477.
