Description
The video that has now gone viral following Ohio State’s win over Oregon in the Rose Bowl shows an employee denying quarterback Will Howard entry onto the stage for the postgame awards ceremony.
Now, many fans are debating why he wasn't let on stage at first.
The Rose Bowl shut down claims made in one video on Instagram Friday that allege Howard was not let on stage over something said in his postgame speech. The video has gained more than 1.5 million views.
The Rose Bowl said the claims made in that video are “completely false.”
“The College Football Playoff regulates that the players of the game, team captains and the head coach are the only team personnel allowed on the postgame stage. While Will was able to eventually get on the stage, this came down to the weight limit of the stage and the safety of everyone involved in the postgame awards ceremony,” the comment read.
The actual video shows Howard standing near the platform where all his teammates are and getting the attention of an employee at the Rose Bowl to be let on stage.
The employee says something to Howard and Howard is seen laughing. People nearby try to tell the employee that he is a starting quarterback.
Howard turns around and says, “Yeah I know, they’re blocking me.” He then adds, “Guys, there’s a weight limit apparently."
