Helene will bring much needed drought relief to Ohio over Friday and the weekend. The forecast is very much still on track - with rain impacting the region through most of the day and strong winds arriving early this afternoon. Rain amounts will be highest south of I-70, where amounts could exceed 1.00-1.50", and north of I-70 amounts drop to 0.50-1.25". The strongest winds will be between 1p-9p tonight where sustained winds will be 15-25 mph and gusts to 40 mph. Helene will stall about 250 miles to our southwest, which means rain chances stick around for the weekend. As Helene weakens, however, winds will weaken too. This means that Friday will be the only day with strong winds, and winds will be much weaker this weekend. Rain chances stick around through about Tuesday of next week, before sunny and cool weather is expected towards the middle of next week.
